General Taste Guide as defined by the Wine Development Board

White Wine
– A scale using numbers 1 to 9, of dryness to sweetness, has been used. Number 1 signifies very dry wines, e.g. Muscadet; Number 8 indicates a sweet wine, e.g. Banyuls

Red Wine – The guide for red wine uses a simple five-point scale.

The letters A to E are used in order to differentiate it from the white wine guide. The five categories identify red wines in terms of total taste and the impression on the palate. Starting at A the wines are light, easy, undemanding and quaffable, e.g. Macon Rouge. We include wines up to E and these wines are full bodied, e.g. Campbells Shiraz Durif.

'It is our policy at the Orange Tree Restaurant not to list a wine's vintage as these are constantly changing.  If you wish to know the vintage of a particular wine, please ask when you place the order.  Please rest assured that all the wines which we hold have been carefully scrutinised and meet our extremely high standards'.
